Polling Locations
The polling location for this election will be held at the Alden Fire Department at 1018 Water Street, Alden, IA 50006. Any eligible elector in Hardin County within the Alden Community School District may vote at this location.
Any eligible elector in Franklin County within the Alden Community School District may vote at the following location: Coulter Community Center, Coulter, 109 Main Street, Coulter, IA.
Voter Registration
The voter pre-registration deadline is Monday, February 19, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Note: there is no exception for the Federal holiday in the Code of Iowa. The Auditor’s Office will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
New registrants after the deadline – including on Election Day – will follow Election Day Registration procedures. Proof of identity and proof of residence will be required.
Absentee Voting
Absentee Voting (in-person)
Voting in the Auditor's Office begins Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and will be available during regular business hours until 4:30 p.m., Monday, March 4. Regular business hours in the Auditor's Office are 8 am - 4:30 pm. On statutory deadline dates, the office is open until 5:00 pm. Go to the Hardin County’s Auditor's Office. As of July 1, 2020, identification is required of registered voters when casting an in-person absentee ballot.
Absentee Voting (by mail)
The first day that ballots will be mailed is Wednesday, February 14. The last day to request a mailed ballot is Monday, February 19. The request must be received in the Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m. that day. On the request form, mark "Special" under type of election, and fill in the election date (03/05/2024) in the proper area.
Returning Your Mailed Absentee Ballot
By Mail. A return envelope is provided with pre-paid postage. All ballots must be received in the Auditor's Office by the close of polls at 8:00 pm on Election Day in order to be considered for counting.
In Person. You or a member of your household or immediate family may deliver your ballot to the Auditor's Office up until 8 p.m. on Election Day (Tuesday, March 5). Completed ballots may not be dropped off or used at polling locations.
By Delivery Agent. Disabled voters ONLY may designate someone else to mail or deliver the voted ballot. The instructions included in your mailed absentee ballot packet include a receipt, if you choose to designate a delivery agent.
