Geospatial Information Systems (GIS & Mapping)

The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications and maps. GIS is primarily concerned with maintaining a large database of digital layers covering the entire county. Features such as parcels, municipal boundaries, zoning, hydrology, roads, and recreation areas are represented as map symbols which are linked to a database containing essential information.

GIS is also responsible for maintaining 911 map data layers and assigning rural addresses in Hardin County.
