Traveling Environmental Education Programs
Each year, Calkins Nature Area staff gives dozens of talks at schools, retirement homes and various community groups. We strive to make our programs interesting and interactive for all ages. We love to bring live critters with us
when we can. Conservation staff can also assist groups with prairie and tree planting demonstrations. These programs are performed free of charge as long as they are in Hardin County.
Contact Calkins Nature Area staff by phone at 641-648-9878 or
email Calkins staff
to schedule a program for your school, organization or other community group.
Summer Day Camps
We invite youth to join us for a week of daily summer camps. Each camp will allow children the opportunity to unplug and immerse themselves in a week of experiencing nature. Camp activities include a wide variety of nature-themed games,
crafts, wilderness skills and exploration hikes.
Dates and details will be announced on our Facebook Page and website calendar each year.
