The Lodge Renovation

Renovation Plans:

The Lodge, formerly known as the Iowa River Conservation Club, was originally built in the 1960s and was acquired by Hardin County Conservation in 2021 with the intent of renovating the building to serve as a multifunction venue for the public. The building has roots in Steamboat Rock and has been a location for community events and family gatherings for generations. The venue continues to host many local organization's meetings, fundraisers, family gatherings, and wedding parties. Hardin County Conservation hopes to enhance and preserve this location, to continue the legacy for new and returning patrons for years to come.

The proposed plan consists of the following;

The main floor will feature a renovated commercial kitchen and pantry space for renters to utilize. The plans include updating the kitchen equipment, walls, ceilings, tile flooring, a new power distribution system, cabinets, a large island, a serving counter, and storage shelving. The board plans to also renovate the 1,800 square foot event space to include a new ceiling, flooring, lighting, wall finishes, gas fireplace, doors, and windows. The existing deck would be replaced, and the exterior stairs will be relocated to extend the event space to accommodate outdoor events. Lastly, the main floor will be updated to include two ADA accessible restrooms.

The board plans on creating a walk out basement with a canoe and kayak rental office. The plans also include a renovation of the current restrooms, with an addition of two new ADA accessible restrooms with showers to be utilized by Pine Ridge Park campground patrons. Lastly, the lower level will feature a sizable meeting room that will be made available to the public for rental. Additionally, the the HVAC unit, electric, water and waste systems will also be updated.

The grounds will be altered to allow for a 30-40 parking lot that are ADA accessible, a dump station to be utilized by patrons of the Pine Ridge campground, and a carry down boat ramp. The plans also consist of the addition of three rentable cabins to the area.
