Annual Tax Sale
The annual tax sale is held the third Monday in June at 9:00 AM. Any delinquency must be offered for sale at the Regular or Public Bidder Tax Sale. The registration fee for a tax bidder is $25.
The annual tax sale is held in the conference room of the basement level of the Courthouse in Eldora, Iowa.
The sale will start promptly at 9:00 AM and normally lasts about 2 to 3 hours. All pre-registered purchasers/bidders must be checked in with the tax sale clerk to receive their bidder number from 8:15 AM to 8:45 AM.

Sale Time & Location

Tax Sale Terms
Registration
The registration deadline is approximately 1 week prior to the sale. One person may be authorized to represent as many tax sale purchasers as he or she can manage. The sale procedure will not be slowed or stopped if a registered bidder cannot keep up with pace of the sale.
2019 registration deadline is 4:30 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
Limited Seating
The conference room has limited seating. Priority registration is given to purchasers who were registered the previous year. Additional registrations will be granted if room permits.
Registration Fee
There is a $25 registration fee, which must accompany the registration documents for each purchaser. This fee is nonrefundable. Each registered bidder must pay the registration fee. The Treasurer's Office does not accept credit card payments.
Tax Sale List
Upon receipt of the registration form and payment, the Treasurer will email the tax sale list to the registered bidder at no additional charge. If the bidder does not have an email address, then the tax sale may be mailed.

List Published in Newspaper
All delinquent parcels will be published in one of Hardin County's official newspapers each year, approximately two weeks prior to the tax sale date. Contact the Treasurer's Office to find out the current publishing newspaper.
In 2019, all delinquent parcels will be published in the Ackley World Journal, Ackley, IA on June 5, 2019.
Purchase List by Non-Registered Bidders
The condensed version that is published in the newspaper is available for $20. The detailed version, which shows the breakdown of each type of tax/special assessment, property valuations, and the individual amounts due is $40. This list is emailed to registered bidders.
No Electronic Devices
Electronic devices will be prohibited during the tax sale. This includes:
- cellular phones
- pagers
- tape recorders
- camcorders
Laptop or notebook computers are allowed only if they are operated from battery packs. A violation in the use of electronic devices may result in the disqualification of the bidder/purchaser.
No pets allowed and cell phones must be turned off.
