Community Services is the county department that assists residents with social service needs and with accessing appropriate resources and services. The department assists in the following ways:
Mental Health and Disability Services (MHDS) provides assistance, resources, and service coordination for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or other developmental disabilities.
Mental Health Advocate provides advocacy services to individuals placed under a mental health court commitment. The Advocate serves individuals in Hardin, Franklin, and Story Counties.
General Assistance provides financial assistance to residents who are indigent or in crisis.
Substance Abuse funding for indigent individuals needing county funded detoxification services.
