Senate District 25 Special Election

Senate District 25 will have a Special Election to fill a vacancy in the Iowa Senate on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Polling Locations

Hardin County precincts are being combined for this special election into two polling locations ONLY:

  • The polling location for all voters living in the Northern part of the county (Alden/Buckeye, Hardin/Ellis/Jackson, Iowa Falls #1, Iowa Falls #2, Etna/Clay, and the cities within those precincts) will be at the Ag and Renewable Energy Center on Hamilton Campus of Ellsworth College, located at 709 Ellsworth Ave, Iowa Falls, IA 50126.

  • The polling location for all voters living in the Southern part of the county (Concord/Sherman/Grant/Tipton, Eldora/Pleasant/Providence/Union, Eldora City, and the cities within those precincts) will be at the Hardin County Courthouse, 1215 Edgington Ave, Eldora, IA 50627.

Senate District 25 Special Election Precinct Map (PDF)

Voters may choose another person to assist them with voting, except their employer, employer’s agent, or an officer or agent of the voter’s union. Curb-side voting is available for voters unable to leave their vehicle. Voters wishing to use the curb-side option should contact the County Auditor’s Office at 641-939-8108 with an expected time of arrival.

Candidates

The filing deadline for any candidate running unaffiliated with a political party or affiliated with an unofficial party (NPPOs) will be March 27, 2018, at the Secretary of State's Office. Candidates will need 100 signatures from the district.

Absentee Voting

Absentee ballot request forms MUST be received by the Auditor's Office no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2018.

In-person absentee voting is available beginning on March 29th at the courthouse during normal office hours until 4:30 PM, Monday, April 9, 2018.
