Board of Health
The Board of Health is the advisory board for the Environmental Health Department and Public Health activities in the county.
The Board meets monthly, normally on the second Thursday of the month.
The Board of Health is composed of six members that are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Each member's term lasts three years.
The Board of Heath strives to promote and protect the health of their friends and neighbors. Board of Health members focus on the priority health problems in their communities, which might include substance abuse (including tobacco use), environmental issues, chronic disease, violence and abuse, disaster preparedness, and bioterrorism threats.
Board of Health members are working with many partners to carry out the three core functions of public health:

Board Overview

Board of Health members focus on the priority health problems in their communities, which might include substance abuse (including tobacco use), environmental issues, chronic disease, violence and abuse, disaster preparedness, and bioterrorism threats.
Board of Health members are working with many partners to carry out the three core functions of public health:
- Assessment - knowing what needs to be done
- Policy Development - being part of the solution
- Assurance - doing what needs to be done, or making sure it happens

Local boards of health to be the administrative authority for:
- On-site waste water systems
- Nonpublic water wells
- Grants-to-Counties programs
- Public health nuisances
- Time of property transfer (real estate) inspections
